An off-site 11,000 square foot, multi-dimensional studio designs and produces unique, hand-finished wall and floor sculptures. The recent addition of a publishing division provides imagery to world-renowned publishers for distribution in the marketplace. PHOENIX ART GROUP had its beginning in 1970 when John Douglas Cline, the founder of the successful John Douglas Cline Gallery in Los Angeles moved to Phoenix to establish Accent Graphics, Inc. Shortly after the company’s inception, Joseph A. Grassia joined as an associate partner to Mr. Cline, and together they operated a fledgling studio in Cave Creek, Arizona. The studio focused on the development of stylized artwork in watercolor media. Before long, the partners began to direct the production of art in such varied media as monoprints, oil and acrylic on canvas, etchings and serigraphy. In 1978, the studio and the range of its achievements evolved dramatically, triggering a need for expansion into a historic building acquired in downtown Phoenix. This facility was transformed into a Mecca of creative energy, attracting artists and imaginative minds from around the world to a relaxed and nurturing environment now known as PHOENIX ART GROUP. A visit to the studios at PHOENIX ART GROUP offers a glimpse of an excitement-charged atmosphere, alive with creative and talented people sharing ideas and skills, collaborating to produce truly beautiful works of art that are world renowned. A passion for experimentation and a love of innovation is evident in a wide range of masterful techniques such as the layering of texture and paint on canvas, hand embellishment of etchings and giclées, hand-painted glass and objets d’art, as well as multi-dimensional wall sculptures in copper and steel. PHOENIX ART GROUP continues to meet and look forward to the ongoing challenge of forging ahead toward new horizons of creative expression. The collaboration of many has turned the dream of PHOENIX ART GROUP into a reality. John Douglas Cline’s artistic leadership and Joe Grassia’s unique talent in frame design under the direction of Harriet B. Hilburn, CEO, has led to the creation of an art studio and gallery unsurpassed by any other this country has to offer. |
